Microsoft Outlook 2007 e-Mail Setup Instructions

In our examples, we use the account name of 'example@host2help.com' with the password is '1234' the domain name is www.host2help.com - this is a fake account and will not work on your system. You will need to use the e-Mail addresses and passwords you set up either in your Host2Help site admin tool or when you created your account. If you have lost your passwords, you can find out what they are through that interface. If you use another company to host your accounts, this advice may well not work.

We are also unable to help you with e-Mail accounts not used on this service - so if you connect to the Internet through AOL, or any other ISP, if you are having problems with that account, you need to contact your ISP for help.

Creating a new account

Launch Microsoft Outlook 2007. These screenshots are taken from a Windows Vista computer, but it should be identical in XP. Click on "Tools", then select "Account Settings"

Microsoft Outlook 2007 Mail setup, drop down menu support

You will see a new window open.

New e-Mail account pop up screen

From here you need to click "New…" located in the top right corner of the main area, under the "E-mail" tab. This will open another window, called "Add New E-mail Account".

Select "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP" and click "Next ⟩"

The first two items tell Outlook who to show the mail coming from - whatever you enter in to the from address is what people will see in their mail box when you send a mail to them. So you will want to include your name, and possibly your company name also. You can use any letter, in lower or upper case, and some symbols. Do not use quotation marks (single or double) as this may upset some mail programs, and may get you classed as spam. Also, do not use block caps, as this may also cause your mail to be classed as spam.
e-Mail address is your e-Mail address, to show where the mail came from - if this is not set to the same as your mail account, some systems will think you are spam. So for this example, we will enter Example@Host2Help.com - this is just for display, so for our username we need to enter this all in lower case, but here, we can capitalize some of the letters to make it more humanly readable.
Your password is the password you selected when you created the account - your password is case sensitive, and if you copy and paste it, make sure that you do not inadvertently copy a space after the password (a common issue).

Microsoft Outlook 2007 Support Searching for account settings

At this point, Microsoft will try to auto-detect the server settings. It will assume that we have a secure connection for mail - we do not use that

And so we will click "Next ⟩" to go to the next screen:

Microsoft Outlook 2007 Setup support - Problem connecting to server

Now we can click on "Finish". Close the other window, and your account is ready to be used, congratulations!
